The Air Jordan 1 Retro High NRG “Union”<\/strong> is an instant hit. This should come as no surprise at all. Considering the sheer quality of this release, that sell-out stands to reason.<\/p>\n

This special edition of the classic Air Jordan 1<\/strong><\/a> also caused some serious frustration. On release day, plenty of people got caught in the “L” circle. While some lucked out, most people missed their shot at copping. But, there’s still some hope!<\/p>\n

Jordan Brand<\/strong><\/a> may still be messing with restrictive quantities. But, it looks like we’ll all be getting another shot to own this iteration. This Thanksgiving weekend, the Jumpman is bringing it back.<\/p>\n

This release is a natural fit for the brand. Union LA’s Chris Gibbs is all about the retro. All things vintage are pure and simple for him. He’s regularly spotted in a worn-out hoodie and some scuffed shoes. Gibbs is also very particular about this look.<\/p>\n

He brings his expertise to this project in a very specific way. He knows what it takes to make something look worn. But, he’d also needed to study the product. The Air Jordan 1 was a perfect choice, even though his favorite is the AJ 3<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Air Jordan 1 sports a leather build that is reminiscent of its release year. The mid-1980s are a revolutionary time for basketball sneakers. Part of that has to do with Nike’s innovative use of leather uppers. This same build also ages well. Both Gibbs and the Jordan design team are aware of this.<\/p>\n

So, they get to work, starting with the finer details. The leather on the upper is thicker on this release. Small accents like the Swoosh get dipped in nubuck. Even, the ankle collar is designed to have a fuzzy look and feel to it. All of this, in the spirit of vintage 80s glory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
