All about utility with the Nike React Runner Mid ISPA<\/h2>\n

The Nike React Runner Mid ISPA<\/strong> is a very interesting project from the brand. It represents several elements of functional design. Each of these serves a defined purpose. The final product is all about utility.<\/p>\n

The ISPA initiative is Nike’s way of focusing on practicality. Every year, Nike<\/strong><\/a> greets the colder months with special releases. Usually, these tend to focus more on visuals. The Wheat colorways immediately come to mind.<\/p>\n

But, this time around, Nike looks in another direction. This new line breaks down the functional design into four essential factors. Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, and Adapt – or ISPA.<\/p>\n

The whole point of this initiative is to build a shoe that is protective. Beyond that, it’s focused on a shoe that reacts to “the built environment.” ISPA Footwear designer Shamees Aden is looking to make long commutes easier. As she puts it, the ISPA line examines “the people who are commuting three to five times a day.”<\/p>\n

Consequently, the Nike React<\/strong><\/a> Runner Mid ISPA is built to protect and to last. The upper is built in a deconstructed design. It is also, more importantly, waterproof. Being a Londoner herself, Shamees’s design was likely inspired by tons of rainfall in the city.<\/p>\n

Of course, we also get the react cushioning. This system has been a hit thanks to its versatility. Unlike most cushion setups, React brings two key aspects together. The protective profile helps you have soft landings. Meanwhile, there’s also an element of energy return.<\/p>\n

Bringing both of those qualities together makes this design more than wearable. It also results in a shoe that takes on your long commutes on foot.<\/p>\n
