Particularly in 2018, this shoe’s return fits in nicely with the run of comebacks from the ACG line.

The Air Revaderchi, much like most ACG designs, is driven by a purpose-first approach. It’s meant to be worn as an outdoor cross-training shoe, but its features merit more description.

The uppers come together as the combination of several materials comprising of leather, synthetics, and textile. For their part, the synthetic elements come in the form of a caging system that helps lock in your foot. We also see a hit of neoprene via this mid-cut design’s ankle collar, making for a noticeably snug fit.

Underfoot, we see the combination of a foam midsole and encapsulated Air tech for a featherweight source of impact protection. Seeing as how this is a shoe meant for outdoor extremes, it’s no surprise that it’s also a hard-wearing model. To that end, the outsole’s durable rubber tread and construction work quite well.

This retro model is coming back in a series of colorways, including Grey, Blue/ Teal, and Triple Black. Each of these takes on the shoe’s unique construction with an individual flair. The Triple Black look is pretty self-explanatory, coating the entire upper in a tonal finish.

The Grey pair comes in with a little more nuance, opting for a setup of contrast between most of the upper and a darker ankle collar. Both the Triple Black and Grey iterations also sport speckled midsoles for some subtle visual pop. The Teal iteration comes in as an ode to playful visuals from ACG’s background, incorporating different aquatic hues.

It’s always a pleasant sign when Nike goes back to their ACG background. The result is usually a functional staple finding some new life in a modern context. While the overwhelming majority of the sneaker industry is trying to find a winning visual formula, it’s nice to remember that functional design can also be beautiful.

Get out there with the Nike Air Revaderchi The ACG line’s Nike Air Revaderchi is a reprisal of the brand’s functional branch.
