Even some of their smaller drops have come with a no-concessions approach to design and materials. Here, we see something just a tad bit different. The Dragon Ball Z x adidas collection comes to many of us as a blast from the past. Though the Dragonball series isn’t exactly ancient history yet, adidas shows some cultural currency here by opting to focus on the Goku v. Frieza saga.<\/p>\n
For those of you who are uninitiated with the Dragonball Z series, two things: 1. we apologize for the incoming nerdiness and 2. take some time to watch this show and catch up. The Frieza saga involves the battle between Goku and Frieza to stop the latter from annihilating the planet. In that universe, Frieza is unchallenged as the most powerful being on the planet, until a certain spiky-haired hero comes along to muddy the waters.<\/p>\n
The contrasting styles are emphasized here via the distinctly different shoes. The ZX500 RM represents the Goku side of the occasion, positively bursting with color. The mesh base is overlaid with suede and synthetic elements in the colors of Goku’s usual Orange\/ Blue get-up.<\/p>\n
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the adidas YUNG-1<\/a><\/strong> reps Frieza. Again, we see a mesh base with overlays of leather and synthetic details. But, we also get plenty of Purple and Lilac notes, giving this shoe Frieza’s signature aesthetic. Though released in honor of an epic struggle between good and evil, the only struggle you’ll have is figuring out which one to cop!<\/p>\n
