With the Converse x Dr. Woo Chuck 70<\/strong>, the historic basketball sneaker brand proves its never-ending relevance. Not only does Converse<\/strong> claim one of the three most popular sneakers in the world every single year, it shows us a dynamism when it comes to its collaborative tastes as well.<\/p>\n

Converse has a habit of tapping some interesting names for collaborations. The brand has easily found their way between the genres of childhood cartoons and even Metallica. Along the way, there is a consistency in terms of quality and imagination.<\/p>\n

For this latest release<\/strong><\/a>, Converse gets together with a very special name to a certain section of celebrities. Dr. Woo<\/strong> is known for his tattoo work, which is both disciplined and expressive. Moreover, that reputation has made Dr. Woo the preferred tattoo purveyor to A-list celebrities.<\/p>\n

A sneaker company can always amplify the profile of their wears by calling on the services of the artistic community. It’s one thing to make a shoe look great, but it’s an entirely different strength to bring in the recognizable name of a famous artist.<\/p>\n

Dr. Woo’s influence comes via the visuals on the Chuck 70’s<\/a><\/strong> upper. Spider-shaped embroidery covers the shoe’s build, with the extra flair of a webbing graphic along the tongue. As a more subtle note, the toe-box sports a small graphic of a fly.<\/p>\n

Along with the standard canvas version, we also saw special pairs released in a premium leather. Each of these was tattooed, signed, and numbered by Dr. Woo himself. You may not find yourself ever coming into contact with that super luxurious edition, but the canvas pair is certainly worth your time.<\/p>\n

The visuals alone would be captivating had it not been for the sheer quality of the design and its simplistic finish. Available in both Black and White, It’s also not a shoe meant to gather dust. Dr. Woo himself hoped people “wear them until they are destroyed.”<\/p>\n
