CP Company: a unique balance<\/h2>\n

CP Company<\/strong><\/a> finds utility as its main core and mission.\u00a0The more you look through the recent history of fashion, the more we start to see a certain trend.<\/p>\n

Increasingly, brands have become more and more determined to strike a mythical balance: utility and style. For many fashion houses, it seems like the easiest habit to simply claim certain releases as the union between those two concepts.<\/p>\n

In fact, some of the biggest names in fashion design have boasted that exact same status. With that being said, striking that tone can be extremely difficult. In fact, it can signal a company doom.<\/p>\n

Well, in the interesting case of CP Company, a hyper-focus on utility made be what brings the company back from irrelevance. It’s odd to be talking about CP Company in anything other than endearing terms.<\/p>\n

Since the 1970s:<\/h2>\n

Though the brand has gone through considerable struggles, it’s an ironic conversation when you consider history. CP Company starts off on its path in 1975 thanks to the incomparable Massimo Osti.<\/p>\n

Osti spends years experimenting with different fabrics, manipulating them under varying conditions and colorful finishes. Out of this playful design approach came a few collections that would set precedents for the wider fashion world. Perhaps the experimental approach sounds familiar? It should.<\/p>\n

Osti eventually crosses paths with another important name in the business, Carlo Rivetti. The two quickly find common ground via their love for experimental fashion design.<\/p>\n

They both wanted badly to contribute something entirely unseen to the craft, something the industry could see as a benchmark. Osti would prove his brilliance again here, introducing Rivetti to an incredible limited collection of jackets<\/strong><\/a> made from a tarp-like material. It was, to put it mildly, a brand new concept.<\/p>\n

Still not sounding like a familiar story? This collection, released back in the early 1980s, proves to be one of the key foundations for Carlo Rivetti’s own, more well-known project: Stone Island<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

All about real inspiration:<\/h2>\n

It’s almost poetic that CP Company would effectively inspire what we know as Stone Island. Both brands share a reverence for utilitarian fashion. This has helped CP Company gain a certain respect for military-style looks and tones.<\/p>\n

Combine this with a sharp focus on the actual fabrics of the brand’s wears, and you have a complicated formula. This is part of the reason why CP Company eventually loses its way a bit. Going into the 2000s, a steady decrease in its presence within the fashion world turns into an outright disappearing act.<\/p>\n

The balance of function and fabric was, one can imagine, a bit heavy to carry. But, it is that same complicated balance that inspires the brand’s revival back in 2011. The man behind this surge back to its relevance is none other than Enzo Fusco. For a few reasons, Fusco was perfect for this role.<\/p>\n

He is an obsessive fan of fashion, with a particular liking for uniforms in police or military styling. He also shares the spirit of utility meeting considerate fabric selection. Thankfully, classics such as the goggle jackets have been central to the brand’s identity even to this day.<\/p>\n

Looking into CP Company’s future, it seems that their spot is solidified for many years to come.<\/p>\n
