A “T-shirt for your feet”: that was how the Nike Air Presto<\/strong><\/a> was marketed when it was first released in 2000. Rather than using the traditional numerical size, the Presto was sold in six sizes only, XXS, XS, S, M, L and XL.<\/p>\n

Presto designer Tobie Hatfield was fascinated with creating a shoe that replicated the sensation of running barefoot. A concept already approached in the mid 80s with silhouettes like the Air Flow or the Sock range, but the Presto took the sock idea to a whole new level.<\/p>\n

Part of the Alpha Project, a Nike<\/strong><\/a> initiative introduced in the late 90s, the goal of the Presto was to enable your foot to take control of the shoe, giving you as natural a ride as possible. The sock upper gave your foot the maximum in flexibility and room for toe movement, still maintaining proper support. Originally the Presto featured a neoprene and breathable mesh upper, a lightweight Phylon midsole, cushioned Duralon Waffle outsole and an Engineered Support Cage located around the midsole.<\/p>\n
