Understanding always came before creating.<\/span><\/em><\/div>\n<h2><b>It all starts away from the spotlight<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Before offices, presentations, or major launches, Sandy Bodecker was a skier. Running was part of his training, and almost by chance he began testing shoes from a young brand that was starting to gain traction among athletes: Nike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Fit, feel, tiny details \u2014 Sandy could break down every shoe to its most minimal elements. It didn\u2019t take long for him to move into different roles and contribute to some of the company\u2019s most important developments. Alongside Tinker Hatfield, he helped shape models such as the Air Max and the Air 180.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">He didn\u2019t design from pure aesthetic intuition, but from real-world experience. Gradually, Nike stopped being an outsider and became a central figure in football culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Nike enters skateboarding without asking permission<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once football was on track, Bodecker changed direction again. Skateboarding was the most hostile environment for a major corporation like Nike \u2014 and he knew it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">So he did the opposite of what was expected: no superstar signings, no aggressive strategies. Listen first. Work with real shops. Build product from within the culture. From there, he led one of Nike\u2019s most ambitious ideas: Breaking2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It wasn\u2019t just about running fast \u2014 it was about breaking a symbolic barrier: two hours. For the attempt, Nike developed carbon-plated shoes that redefined performance in modern running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The image of Bodecker standing next to Eliud Kipchoge at the finish line became iconic.
