It all started in the <strong>1970s<\/strong>, when the popularization of jogging in the United States led thousands of people to the streets and to confront the hard asphalt. It was a moment of real change for sneaker design, a true revolution that expanded into other sports and of course, into fashion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since then, the major brands have developed systems to cushion the impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>adidas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Until well into the seventies, <strong>Europe <\/strong>was adidas\u2019 most important market, and the needs of European runners were very different from those of American runners. adidas used various <strong>foams and EVA<\/strong> until the 1980s when it developed several concepts centered on personalizing cushioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>adidas Vario Shock &#8211; Absorption System (1984)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>First seen in the adidas L.A Trainer, launched for the Los Angeles Games in 1984. This semi-fluid silicone gel was incorporated into the EVA midsole, optimizing impact absorption at key points. Its ability to disperse impact forces and reduce vibration not only alleviated fatigue but also helped prevent injuries, transforming the athletic footwear industry. It has evolved into various compounds such as <strong>FlyteFoam Propel (2018)<\/strong> and <strong>FlyteFoam Blast (2020)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dr Martens<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the brand <a href=\"https:\/\/footdistrict.com\/en\/dr-martens\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dr Martens<\/a> doesn&#8217;t focus on sports cushioning, it has innovated in comfort and impact absorption with different types of soles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>AirWair (1960)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.footdistrict.com\/en\/dr-martens-10-untold-stories\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Introduced in the first Dr. Martens 1460<\/a>, this sole with <strong>air encapsulated in the midsole<\/strong> provided greater impact absorption and comfort compared to other work footwear.
