Denim shirts, and even the total denim look (*Canadian tuxedo*), were a regular part of Bob Marley\u2019s wardrobe. At the time, these pieces were associated with countercultural movements, having long shed their history as workwear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tricolor jacket<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The colors red, yellow, and green, which symbolized a return (both spiritual and sometimes physical) to Africa, appeared in many of Bob Marley\u2019s garments, and by extension, in Rastafarianism. The 1970s saw the rise in popularity of the tracksuit, a technologically advanced garment that enabled an active lifestyle. Before hip hop made it a cultural staple, Bob Marley had already integrated sportswear into his daily life. His image, donning a tracksuit and adidas sneakers<\/a>, inspired designers like Wales Bonner<\/a>, who in 2020 released a collection based on Marley and his influence on Dance Hall culture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n

Bob Marley loved playing soccer<\/strong>. Allan Cole, The Wailers’ manager and a former Jamaican national team player, would organize informal matches between tours and recording sessions. Naturally, soccer style became part of Marley\u2019s image too. He was often seen wearing soccerjerseys from teams like the national teams of France and Brazil, Tottenham Hotspur<\/strong>, Santos<\/strong>, Hamburg SV<\/strong>, or Nantes<\/strong>. Marley\u2019s influence on soccer has endured, with clubs like Dublin\u2019s Bohemian FC<\/strong> and Ajax creating jerseys inspired by him. Ajax even released a special edition kit based on his song Three Little Birds, which their fans regularly sing at matches.<\/p>\n\n\n

adidas sneakers <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before sneakers were linked to specific subcultures, they were already a staple for Bob Marley<\/strong>. Far from the typical Rastafarian aesthetic, Marley wore sneakers, usually adidas<\/a><\/strong>, because they allowed him to jump into a soccer match at any time.
