Barbour’s classic British style meets Maison Kitsun\u00e9’s contemporary vision in a collaboration that reimagines the ideas <\/strong>of the two brands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first collaboration between Barbour and Maison Kitsun\u00e9<\/strong> is built on the British brand’s materials, creative processes and attitude against the elements, but adds some of the laid-back Parisian mindset in unexpected situations. Barbour<\/strong>‘s creations are linked to the company’s history, which is also tied to a specific location. Its style and ability to create garments that protect against the elements stem from its origins in the north of England<\/strong>, where many of their garments are still manufactured. A cold and wet environment necessitates protective jackets, coats, and accessories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will have to go a little further to meet Maison Kitsun\u00e9<\/strong>. Maison Kitsun\u00e9 is one of Gildas Loac<\/strong> and Masaya Kuroki<\/strong>‘s creative projects. Gildas began making fanzines and organising raves in the 1990s before opening her own record store, which became a meeting place for the Parisian community. There he met Masaya, a Japanese-born architect who had immigrated to France as a child. Kitsun\u00e9 was created as a collaborative project that included coffee shops and a record label (through which Crystal Fighters, Fischerspooner, La Roux, Simian Mobile Disco, and Two Door Cinema Club passed).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kitsune is Japanese for fox<\/strong>, and Gildas and Masaya use the meaning from Japanese folklore with a French twist. Foxes in Japanese culture are capable of adopting human appearances, they are intelligent, seductive, and cunning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Barbour x Maison Kitsun\u00e9 Collection<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration between the two brands uses elements of Barbour’s history such as its classic tartan, its waxed leathers and in the outerwear pieces, a waterproofness with decades of experience even in reversible and patchwork garments. In this collection with Maison Kitsun\u00e9<\/a>, contemporary patterns appear in cotton garments that, without being oversized, leave more space just where you need it. Shetland wool sweaters with Maison Kitsun\u00e9’s interpretation of a British landscape and reversible accessories. All with the casual touch of the fox, who this time wears Barbour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
