Converse relaunches a piece of history with Hiroshi Fujiwara in a special edition collection<\/strong> that includes the legendary Converse Weapon, hoodies, T-shirts, and a varsity jacket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

FRGMT, white, black, and blue<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hiroshi Fujiwara<\/strong> is commonly referred to as the godfather of streetwear, a generic term used to describe its evolution; the hip hop and skateboarding of the 1980s, the creation of pioneering brands, and even the collaborative process as we know it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fujiwara has been and continues to be a trailblazer in causing some items signed under his FRGMT brand<\/strong> to become the most sought after and later established as a trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has been the case with the blue, white, and black color scheme that has become his signature collaborative color. A combination that is strongly influenced by the models found in Hiroshi Fujiwara’s private collection, which has been compiling his own pairs since the early 1980s. The Jordan I<\/strong> and Nike Tennis Classic<\/strong> were his two favorite models, and they served as the foundation for Fujiwara’s development of his relationship with color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The white and blue mix of the Nike Tennis Classic appears on the Nike All Court 2 Mid alongside the Head Porter, Nike SB Koston and the Tennis Classic Velcro version itself. However, the white, black, and blue mix that we associate with FRGMT first appeared in 2014<\/strong> with the release of the Jordan I Remastered and also had a relationship with another of Hiroshi’s trunk models. The Jordan I Black \/ Royal Blue was one of the models that sparked Fujiwara’s interest in Jordan, and a trained eye can spot a pair, worn to exhaustion, in images from his collection.<\/p>\n\n\n

Jordan’s first collaboration with FRGM<\/strong>T used the colors of that shoe in the scheme of another classic, the Black Toe. The Jordan XXXV and Travis Scott’s various interpretations of the same combination followed from there. The real explosion, when FRGMT turned blue, happened after that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fujiwara and Converse Weapon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is a reason why this combination ended up at Converse. Before American brands were widely used in Japan, Fujiwara participated in high school basketball games while wearing Converse. Since then, the star brand has collaborated with FRGMT to redesign Jack Purcell<\/strong>, Chuck Taylor All Stars<\/strong>, and Chuck 70s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now it’s the turn of Converse’s most important basketball shoe in the last 50 years, the Converse Weapon<\/a><\/strong>. The Weapon was a model created as a response to the Jordan I that brought together the main players of the time in different versions with the colors of each team, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, or Bernard King. The Weapon couldn’t compete with the Jordan I, but it became one of the most iconic models of the 1980s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
